As we have just marked the 70th Anniversary of the D-Day Landing Beaches, we have decided to include a tour next years to these historic sites when it is a little quieter so join us for a fabulous short break to Normandy and the D-Day Landings beaches

On June 6th 1944, the greatest invasion force in history gathered on the south coast of England and set sail for France on what General Eisenhower called the ‘Great Crusade’ to liberate Europe from the Nazis. The go-ahead was given for June 6th to be D-Day, one of the most important days of World War Two. Since then there have been numerous visitors who have discovered that, as well as historical interest, this area is well worth visiting for its natural beauty. Included in this weekend break is a tour along the British Landing Beaches, Sword, Juno and Gold, the Normandy Battlefields and visits to Bayeux, with its many attractions, and many of the other landmarks, cemeteries and museums associated with this great event.

Included Excursions

The American Landing Beaches & Ste Mère Eglise:
We begin today with a visit to the American landing zones, starting at Ste Mère Eglise, the first town to be liberated after troops from the 82nd Airborne were dropped behind enemy lines, and its American Airborne Museum. Our next visit is to Utah Beach, the landing target for the American forces of the Allied invasion, and then on to the visually spectacular Pointe du Hoc and Omaha Beach American Cemetery. We then continue to Arromanches and the Mulberry Harbour. (Entrances not included)

Pegasus Bridge, Bayeux & British Landing Beaches:
Our excursion today takes us to Pegasus Bridge, site of the famous glider landings on D-Day by the British 6th Airborne Division. From here, we’ll drive along the landing beaches of Sword, Juno and Gold, before travelling inland to Bayeux. Fawlty Towers Night in Nottingham
Orchard Hotel – Nottingham (Self-Drive)

Book by Monday 6 July for just £74pp
Sunday 11th October 2015

Looking after the guests on their arrival and during dinner will be Basil, Sybil and Manuel – let mayhem commence!

Info on the theme:
Fawlty Towers theme night at The Orchard Hotel, provided by the John Cleese impersonator, Edmond Wells, the only 6' 7" Basil Fawlty impersonator who is the same height, walks the walk, and talks the talk: "You know you really do look like me." Quote from John Cleese. Comes complete with the Fawlty Towers team of Manuel and Sybil. As seen on ITV- "Will the Real Basil Fawlty Stand Up!"

Typically the Fawlty Towers theme night will start with meeting and greeting the guests at reception. Basil will announce dinner, and have Manuel lead the guests to the tables in time honoured fashion, with an alternative "FIRE" sketch if suitable, complete with alarm and CO2 extinguisher. (Works a lot quicker than any Toastmaster)! Sybil will be wading her way through her second vat of wine, and making herself available to just about anyone.... Manuel will feature as a waste of space, whilst Basil will be giving the sort of service one would expect from a Top Class Torquay Hotelier, all without mentioning the war!

Around 80% of the work will be interactive with guests at the tables. Numerous props and routines are all honed to perfection, with excellent timing. As inspired by the genius of John Cleese, and his stay at the Hotel Gleneagles Torquay.

  • 1 Night’s Accomodation at the Orchard Hotel
  • 3 Course Evening Meal
  • Full English Breakfast
  • Fawlty Towers Entertainment
  • This is a self-drive package
