Day 1 A morning departure south calling at Salisbury en route.
Salisbury is a medieval cathedral city in the southern English county of Wiltshire. The city’s ornate 13th-century cathedral has a 123m spire,
a working 14th century clock and an original copy of the Magna Carta (the Great Charter), a key document from 1215 A.D.
We arrive at our excellent Suncliff Hotel late afternoon.
Day 2 – After breakfast we depart the hotel and head for Weymouth making a coffee stop at Swanage before continuing to Weymouth.
Swanage is a small seaside town situated in the south east of Dorset, England. ... Swanage is a popular tourist destination with award winning sandy
beaches and beautiful countryside and Swanage is also the first town at the eastern end of the Jurassic Coast, England's first world heritage site.
up to the early 19th Century, Swanage was a small fishing port. However the arrival of the railway meant it developed as a seaside resort and it retains much
of its Victorian character to this day.
Weymouth is a seaside town in Dorset, southern England. Its sandy beach is dotted with colorful beach huts and backed by Georgian houses. Jurassic Skyline, a revolving viewing tower, and Victorian Nothe Fort offer harbour views. Weymouth Sealife Park is home to sharks, turtles and stingrays.
on the fossil-rich Jurassic Coast is pebbly Chesil Beach. A causeway leads to Portland Island with its lighthouse and birdlife.
The world was introduced to the Georgian grandeur of Weymouth during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Weymouth’s fine seafront provided an impressive backdrop to the sailing events and captured the hearts of many!
Day 3 – We have included a full day excursion to Portsmouth travelling via the New Forest. A coffee stop will be made en route.
Portsmouth is a port city and naval base on England’s south coast, mostly spread across Portsea Island. It’s known for its maritime heritage and
Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. The dockyard is home to the interactive National Museum of the Royal Navy, the wooden warship HMS Victory,
where Nelson died in the Battle of Trafalgar, and HMS Warrior 1860. The Tudor ship Mary Rose is also conserved in a dockyard museum.
Portsmouth is a dynamic and vibrant waterfront city packed with great reasons to visit.
Portsmouth was the birthplace of CDharles Dickins and has also been home to Arthur Conan Doyle and Rudyard Kipling during their lifetimes.
These literary greats are celebrated at museums throughout the city and with frequent events.
Not forgetting, of course, what is fast becoming the modern emblem of Portsmouth - the Emirates Spinnaker Tower.
This imposing structure stretches 170 metres above Gunwharf Quays - making it taller than Big Ben, the London Eye and Blackpool Tower.
On a good day, visitors can see 350 degree panoramas stretching up to 23 miles.
With all this and more on offer in one small island, Portsmouth certainly is the Great Waterfront City.
